For those of us who love books, this is a lovely oak cabinet in which to keep them safe and in an orderly fashion. Alternatively, you may be more of a music buff, and it that case you'll need somewhere to store you CD's. This 5 shelf bookcase is of a very study construction and stands four square slightly raised from the floor on its four legs. The Yorkminster 5 shelf bookcase is also available in a narrow version of the same bookcase, the two can stand side by side.
Is it correct that you can supply different knobs to the wooden ones shown on your website. (James)Yorkminster is supplied with two different types of knobs for you to choose which one you want on your furniture. There is a round wooden one and a kind of rounded off square gun metal knob.
Is Yorkminster flatpacked. I'm useless at DIY and not even sure if I own a screwdriver (D Long)Most of the range is ready assembled. The exception are the tables and consoles where the legs are removed and the wardrobes and bedframes which are "knocked down" to allow for easier delivery and getting them upstairs. They assemble extremely easily with a couple of bolts and shouldn't test anyones patience trying to get them together.
The lacquer finish mentioned on this range. Is it shiny or matt? (Anon)The lacquer finish is matt. It is merely applied to the wood to help protect the surface from minor scratches and water marks
Is this solid wood or is it veneered or laminated? (Anon)Yorkminster has solid 'knotty' oak frames for which the timber has been specially selected. The side and top panels are oak veneer which allows the furniture to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. There is no particle board in the drawer linings. The furniture is solidly assembled using traditional dovetail joints.
What are the drawer backs and bases of the chests made from? (Fenn)The drawers in the Yorkminster range have tongue and groove bases, and solid oak backs
